About This Plant

Methley Plum Tree (Prunus salicina 'Methley') is a compact tree that bears large, reddish-purple plums with juicy red flesh. It features sweet, fragrant white flowers in early spring and serves as an excellent pollinator for early-bearing Japanese plum varieties. Hardy in zones 5-9 and an early-season producer, it requires about 250 chill hours for optimal fruit set. The tree grows with a compact form and a spreading habit.
